Paper or plastic? Neither! Bring your own reusable bag to the grocery store. This will cut down on pollution; reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere, and save trees. If your reusable bag is full and you have to make a choice between paper and plastic, choose plastic. The production of plastic bags requires half the amount of energy than paper bags. Fewer pollutants are released into the atmosphere as well.
Buy local! Think about this, you could buy an apple that was grown in your town, or you can buy an apple that was grown in a different country. The apple that travels the farther distance uses more energy, from the trucks, to boats, to planes etc. This causes more greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere. Buying locally will also help your local economy, which will improve the lifestyle in your area. Packaging and more packaging. When you buy something, try to reduce the amount of packaging that comes with your product. Don't buy something that will end up creating a lot of garbage later. Choose packaging that can be recycled, it's good for the environment, and you will feel great about it. If we all choose to limit the amount of packaging we buy, companies will reduce the amount they use. This will in the end lower the cost of the products we buy!
