Small Steps

These are some small things you can do to help save the planet.  If everyone who reads this makes just a few of the changes in their life, the results will be extraordinary!

 Shut down your computer.

Imagine how much energy would be saved if everyone shut down their computers when they are not being used. Now add schools, librarys, government offices, and businesses.  That's a lot of wasted energy!

Cover your pots when you are cooking.

When using a lid more heat will stay inside the pot, while reducing energy usage.

 Plant a tree.

A tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide in it's lifetime.  The shade provided can also decrease the amount of electricity an air conditioner uses by up to 15%.

Use a clothesline instead of a dryer.

One dryer releases an average of 1,400 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year.  If you do this for 6 months out of the year, you'll save 700 pounds of carbon dioxide from being released!

Change your lights

Change your light bulbs to an energy efficient bulb.  This will lower your electricity bills and reduce the excess heat that is released from incandescent bulbs.  Florescent and LED bulbs last longer than incandescent bulbs so you will not need to buy light bulbs so frequently.
